Shinsa (Ukiyo studio rating)

Welcome to the segment where we give a score and a quick review to the singles that were analyzed by this blog. The scoring system ranges from 1 (Unnecessary/Bad) to 5 (Masterpiece). Below is a ranking table that specifies:

ScoreSpeedy Trial Description
5/5MasterpieceAn instant and innovative song. It makes an immediate impact, has impeccable production, and a composition that will endure. It is a modern classic or potential classic.
4/5ExcellentA very strong, highly catchy, and well-produced banger. It stands out in the genre and has great radio/viral potential. It could be an artist's best single.
3/5Sufficient/Good A decent single, pleasant to listen to and which fulfills its function without standing out too much. It's not memorable, but it's well produced and doesn't offend. Solid “filler.”
2/5Weak/Mediocre A forgettable, boring song, or one that fails in its purpose (it's not catchy, the lyrics are poor, or the production is sloppy). It feels like an undeveloped idea.
1/5Unnecessary/Bad A single that is actively bad. Amateur production, frustrating composition, or a song that damages the artist's reputation. Listening to it is strongly discouraged.

Arcades by skyswimming and Banks

A very catchy song that I enjoy listening to, “Arcades” creates good vibes with its somewhat simple melodies, but thanks to the skillful drumming, everything comes together nicely. One thing I would have liked is a different snare and a more powerful kick, but everything else is fine.

Hidden Garden by Gabb. and Eli Theo

Gabb. and Eli Theo present “Hidden Garden,” a rather charming track that stands out above all for its beats and the way the melodies develop and come together, making it very pleasant to listen to. Truthfully, these two artists have done an excellent job.

Reminiscing About You by so.tired and Kichiro

A single that, in my opinion, doesn't stand out much. Although its composition is well structured, it fails to surprise. The single feels weak, especially with its very common Lo-Fi style. I'm not saying that the song is bad, but it's more of the same.

Walk Around Town by SleepingShark

Focusing on a fresher sound, SleepingShark creates a melody based on an incredible concept that sticks to this theme. In the end, I can say that this artist surprises with his variety and how he doesn't pigeonhole himself into a single musical style of Lo-Fi Hip Hop.

I've been waiting forever by DEFRIC

Under the Lonely Girl label, DEFRIC presents us with a rather peculiar and relaxing Lo-Fi track, generating good sentimental vibes. “I've been waiting forever” is a single that stands out for its melody, which tends to vary a little but is accompanied by percussion that, in my opinion, is excellent. Great work by DREFIC.

Green Shades by Gel

Gel returns with a single that, at first glance, sounds quite simple—forgive the redundancy—but really showcases the artist's incredible technique. With a repetitive melody, but beyond that, his focus on the beast makes this song one of my favorites. You can tell how Gel tries to improve his production every day.

Am i just tired by Like Saturn

A new experiment from Like Saturn. To be honest, from my point of view, the lyrics of the song don't quite convince me, but without them, the track would lack variety. That's the point this track achieves with the lyrics. Another thing to highlight is the low volume of the bass, but everything else is really well executed.

Kako no hibiki by Yamato

Yamato returns with a rather symbolic theme that achieves its goal. “Kako no Hibiki” is a single that uses Japanese instruments, and while it sounds excellent in certain parts, in others the volume tends to ruin the moment. I don't deny that Yamato has done a good job, but that detail doesn't quite convince me.

Joy To The World by Softwaves

Taking inspiration from several Christmas classics and mixing it with that unmistakable Lo-Fi touch, Softwaves presents “Joy To The World,” a single that is very well executed. I really love the use of beats, with a powerful kick, and how the melodic composition moves freely throughout the track, which is spectacular.

Never Forget You by SleepingShark

The talented SleepingShark presents us with a work that tries to break the mold in terms of the artist's style. Although it is a song with very little variety, it shines thanks to the well-executed drumming, considering that certain melodic notes sound out of place. Even so, everything else is excellent.

Hiraeth by Echoing tides and 1am in the loop

A fairly unique single, but one that lacks several things, such as variety and a somewhat weak development. And even though this track is the work of two quite exemplary artists, this time they failed to stand out and present their work well.

dream of you... by Kichiro

A theme that passes without much fanfare, as the most notable points are in the composition, which, despite being very well structured, falls a little short, being quite commonplace. I'm not saying it's bad, but there is no innovation in this regard, which means it doesn't stand out much.

Rose by Notation and Banks

A rather relaxing single, which really stands out for its use of short melodies that come together to form an incredibly well-structured composition. The way the saxophone takes its time to shine is unique, and the truth is that the concept itself is a key representation of the work of Notation and Banks.

Arpeggio like a Drifter by Wisperwave and DE DE MOUSE

Under the Lonely Girl label, a beautiful piano melody opens this track, and it's truly incredible how the other instruments are incorporated into it. Written by DE DE MOUSE, this beautiful track has it all. I love every aspect of it. The composition of the melodic notes is impressive, and despite having a bass drum, it's perfect for showcasing the magic of the piano. Congratulations.

One Day in Tokyo by Komachi and Krynoze

Komachi surprises us with a rather sentimental track, based on a beautiful concept that takes us on a tour of Tokyo. “One Day in Tokyo” is a single that blends simplicity with symbolism, with an almost perfect composition. Together with Krynoze, Komochi has created a unique and beautiful piece of work.

Glass House by Kichiro and nomar.wav

The single is quite relaxing, with the melodic guitar notes standing out, accompanied by an excellent structure in the composition of the track. “Glass House” is a song that transmits good vibes of peace, but I would have liked a more powerful kick or for the percussion of the entire drum kit to be more active, but everything else is fine.

Turn This House Into A Home by SleepingShark

Moving away from an “oceanic” atmosphere SleepingShark returns with a fairly calm single. Although it doesn't stand out much, it represents a good approach based on the artist's technical palette, meaning that his style is not pigeonholed as just “oceanic atmosphere.” This is a clear example of how he can improve his technique. The single has a good composition but passes without much fanfare.

Empty Window Seat by Molphobia

It's really enjoyable to listen to in certain sections, and although it feels repetitive at times, the single manages to stand out and be refreshing.

How will i know by Like Saturn

Although the use of vocals in several of Like Saturn's singles gives it its own style, it doesn't always manage to connect with what would be its strongest point, which is the composition of the instrumentals, since the latter often goes unnoticed due to the use of vocals in its songs, and “How Will I Know” continues with the same problem, although this time it works out well.

Drinks by Krynoze and Gabb.

The single starts off well, but what stands out most is the good use of the drums. It almost seems as if they are playing with the drums, which makes it very entertaining to listen to. On the other hand, the composition is average. Although they try to be experimental by bringing variety to the drums, the accompanying melody falls a little short, that is, it doesn't really stand out.

Unknown by Gel

The great artist Gel returns with a new, somewhat experimental single that, at first glance, sounds somewhat linear and lacking in variety. Perhaps that is the purpose of this track, to be something experimental without drawing too much attention, and well, it succeeds, as it doesn't stand out much. “Unknown” passes without much fanfare.

Shinra by Oxinym and Picture Talk

The incredible Oxinym returns with a single that is quite unique in concept, featuring Picuture Talk as a collaborator. “Shinra” is refreshing, works well, and reminds me of the excellent single he made with Yotsugi, “Funashima.” However, even though it reminds me of that song at times, I don't think it measures up, because “Shinra,” despite having a good musical structure in terms of composition, doesn't measure up to “Funashima.” But this criticism isn't a comparison, it's just an example of Oxinym's excellent work.

In My Head by Kichiro and Cloud Cove

A fairly short single that, while serving as filler for the repertoire, also manages to stand out in several aspects, mainly in the use of the bass, which I love. On the other hand, there is the composition of the song, which, despite having a good structure, lacks variety. Otherwise, it's a good single, and you can tell that Kichiro and Cloud Cover put a lot of effort into it.

Tsunaida Te (Lo-Fi Version) by Merzeyz

Based on the theme “Tsunaida Te” from the anime Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Markeys recreates this theme with a Lo-Fi style, which in my opinion is perfect, as it respects the original material in certain aspects while adding its own touch. This single features a Slowed & Reverb version and a Sped Up version. In short, the singles are excellent, especially the main version.

Fanding Lantern by Høxde and Alhivi

Høxde and Alhivi have done a great job with “Fanding Lantern,” a collaborative effort in which each artist shines in their own unique way without overshadowing the other. Using a Japanese setting, this single stands out even more in the structure of the composition, and with its cheerful concept, it is truly admirable.

Love in a mist by K,O

Bringing us back to these rather emotional tracks, K,O returns with “Love in a Mist,” a single that really stands out with excellent technical mastery and the use of drums that blend very well with the most important part of the single, which for me is its strong point: the composition. I really love it. You can tell how hard K,O works to give us incredible songs.

Underneath the Quiet by Alhivi

A simple song with depth and a melancholic feel, Alhivi knew how to interpret this track. One issue worth noting is the use of a pad that honestly overshadows the melodic notes of the guitar. Yes, I know they want to give that instrument a solo, but in the performance it ends up being uneven.

SleepingShark returns using the concept he has presented to us before, practically perfecting his musical style, which he is gradually refining. “Swim With The Fish” is a clear example of this. Although certain sections sound somewhat repetitive, I like the musical tone he presents.

A fairly smooth track that really passes without much fanfare, as the work presented by Banks and Dryden falls a little short in terms of composition, lacking significant variety and resulting in a linear and repetitive structure. The mix of instruments isn't bad, but it lacks concept, which makes it go unnoticed.

Voltage by Gel

Suzushii by Swik and Koji Koi

It's amazing to hear Swik and Oxinym's alter ego “Koji Koi” present “Suzushii,” a track that impressed me. The way they use Japanese elements is quite good, with drums that complement the melodic tones of koten, perfecting the work of these two artists. Sometimes I think that Koji Koi stands out more than Oxinym, despite being the same artist.

Give me a break by Like Saturn

Like Saturn is back, and although their previous single didn't stand out much, here with “Give Me a Break” he tries to improve a little, as the song is composed of a melody charged with melancholic emotions. The problem here is that the lyrics and his interpretation of them don't help much, making the track a little confusing. On the other hand, the good drumming compensates for this, as it complements the guitar notes very well.

Far Way Dreams by DEFRIC

Under the Lonely Girl label, DEFRIC presents “Far Away Dreams,” which is quite cheerful in my opinion, taking electronic sounds and percussion somewhat in the Lo-Fi style. Its only flaw is the concept: by wanting to take different instrumental elements, it fails to establish its own identity and ends up as mere experimentation.

Dreamy Husky returns with a single that is good but not the best in their discography. The most notable aspect is the composition, which is excellent in my opinion, but it falls a little short in the drumming. If they had used a more powerful kick, it would have turned out better. Otherwise, Dreamy Husky has proven itself capable of creating good music, but this time it just didn't work out.

Harmony by Koji Koi (Oxinym) and Ryuugen

After a failed attempt with “Strawberry” Oxinym under his alter ego Koji Koi and together with Ryuugen, they present “Harmony,” which is truly excellent. The concept they show us fits well with the Japanese Lo-Fi vibe, as its composition stands out greatly with the use of Koto accompanied by exceptional drums.

Strawberry Moon by Oxinym and Chris Vybe

I understand the concept they want to present to us, but there's a point here, at the beginning of the track, that feels a little out of place. Maybe it's intentional, but from my point of view, it sounds a little off. The use of the bell is excellent, but I would have liked them to use it at certain moments in the track, rather than throughout the entire track accompanying the main melody. Everything else is fine.

When We First Met by 1am in the loop, Rosa Moln and hmps

1am in the loop returns this time in collaboration with Rosa Moln and hmps, presenting us with a single that sounds more of the same. It should be noted that the structure of the composition is fine, but why my criticism at the beginning? Well, the truth is that it doesn't really stand out, and the volume of the guitars should have been balanced a little better, since when two are played at the same time, it creates a stormy noise from my point of view.

The Mystic by Steezy Prime and Dreamfield

Steezy Prime and Dreamfield present a track that connects very well with nature. The concept they show us is unique, and I like that, but the song passes without much fanfare. In other words, it's not bad, but it's not a mega single either. In terms of composition, it's very well structured and the melodic guitar notes are pleasing, which go hand in hand with the drums, which sound incredible.

I dreamend falling snow and all the children were simply sleeping by Davide Perico and Mellow Dive

Okay. I think the title of the single is a bit exaggerated, but that doesn't matter here. First of all, wow, the song is so beautiful, nostalgic, and melancholic. I love it to the max. Davide Perico and Mellow Dive did a great job presenting us with a work that stands out in almost every aspect, bringing endless emotions and even creating one of the best tracks I've ever heard.

With a mix of conventional Lo-Fi Hip Hop and modern jazz, Jost Esser, Erwin Do, and MALIWA have created a beautiful instrumental piece. Raindrop by Softwaves

“Raindrop” is a track that stands out in several ways, mainly in its composition, how the melodic notes complement the drums, which are very noticeable with a strong kick that works well with the bass. As a track where the instruments support each other, Softwaves demonstrates its technical skill.

Celebrate life by SleepingShark

Taking inspiration from conventional jazz, which is a characteristic style of SleepingShark, I really like the drumming, which is complemented by some incredible melodic notes. One important detail is the use of a flute, which adds variety to the track but is a little uneven, and this also happens with the trumpet. Otherwise, it's very well done.

Something that characterizes Dreamy Husky is creating melodies that convey emotions, and here the melody serves as percussion throughout the track, accompanied by drums that play with the guitar notes, where at certain moments the kick joins in, giving this single a good structure in its composition. kBeats returns this time with the support of Icey Wavs, giving us a track that I unfortunately expected to be more “balanced.” What do I mean by that? Wayfar by Clouken

“Wayfar” is one of those songs that brightens your day, with a pretty good melody accompanied by somewhat common percussion, but it fits very well, creating a feeling of peace and joy. Clouken's vision stands out above all else, but one problem is the ending, as it seems that he didn't know how to end the single, resulting in a fade that closes the song. Or maybe it wasn't intentional. Either way, I think it could have been better, but the single is very well done.

When three great artists came together to create a single that meets Ukiyo Studio's expectations, from my point of view, the composition has a good structure, and I would have liked a more powerful kick, but the fact that they used this one must have been so as not to overshadow the bass, which is well balanced. Creating an atmosphere of horror, the track seems to use a style that is far removed from conventional Lo-Fi pop. Silent Ronin by Koji Koi (Oxynym) and Yani

Echoes of Bushido seems to me to be an excellent introduction. They wanted to let us know what the EP is about, and for me, it does that very well. I love the power of the kick, which doesn't overshadow but rather complements the bass. Fallen Daimyo repeats the formula of the first single a bit, only a little faster, which makes it stand out, but there's a point there: it could easily have been called “Echoes of Bushido (Sped Up)” and there would have been no problem. We slow down the pace with Last Sakura, which for me is the best track on the EP. The bass is incredible and really stands out. Finally, we have Steel in the Wind, which makes for a rather peculiar ending, as the single maintains the same concept but shines with its unique notes, bringing variety to the EP. Incredible work by Koji Koi (Oxinym) and Yani.

visions by myceliumbug and kanyun

The theme of the single works really well. I love how the bass blends with the other instruments. The song is very well structured; nothing sounds out of place.

space by hana shepherd

We start with the single that shares the same name as the EP, Space, which kicks things off with energy and excitement. It's a pretty exceptional composition that reflects Hana Shepherd's excellent work, but despite creating variation in the song, its three-minute length makes it sound somewhat repetitive. We move on to a drastic change with what I consider to be the best single on the EP, Read Minds. It is beautiful, generating a lot of feeling and an atmosphere that draws us in to search for those little pieces of wonderful memories that we had lost. There is nothing more to say about this track. We continue in the same atmosphere but a little more perceptive with No Wrong, which seems to be a combination of the first two singles. The problem is that it has almost the same flaw as Space, only not as noticeable. You Will Go Far passes without pain or glory. I really like the rhythm of the beats, and the piano stands out a lot, giving the EP a good ending.

Am i dreaming? by Like Saturn

A beautiful cover. The single starts off excellently, but then it seems like it doesn't know what to do. The composition of the song varies and changes drastically, which makes it somewhat incomprehensible in certain parts. The same thing happens with the vocals. There are parts that fit perfectly into the song, but there are others where they are basically repeating the title of the song. You understand what they are trying to achieve, but the execution falls a little short.

Crossover by Focal Dream

Wow, I'm impressed with the work Focal Dream has done on this track. You can tell he wanted to try something a little different with Dubstep, but from my point of view, it fell a little short. His bass glows aren't that strong, and neither is his kick. It's an alternative Dubstep track that could improve if he keeps trying.

Stay by seekx

This is a song that evokes strong feelings. I love the composition, and it's remarkable that the hi-hat isn't very noticeable. I had to listen very carefully to realize it was there. The single evokes what I personally would describe as melancholy, but that's up to each individual.

Shooting stars by forever dreaming and alhivi

Very good performance, I really like the melody and also that throughout the single they try to vary the instruments. Needless to say, Alhivi's work stands out greatly; it's a very complete song.

Ghouls in the Groove by 1am in the loop and Aniket

I'm impressed with this single. It really suits them well—the atmosphere it creates, the composition of the instruments, the percussion, and everything else. It all fits together exceptionally well.

Orange Hill by Dreamfield and Alhivi

Everything about this track is great. The composition sounds very well crafted, and you can tell how Dreamfield stands out while also giving Alhivi space to shine. Excellent teamwork.

Simple Sunny Day by SleepingShark

The single passes without much fanfare, with a melody that varies thanks to the accompanying percussion. Simple Sunny Day doesn't stand out much, but it works well for a good playlist.

intimacy by davide perico and yoshimitsu4432

That guitar intro and its continuity are amazing. Even though the percussion is somewhat simple with a few variations, it complements it quite well.

the girl i once met by wednesday wonderland

Of all the good things about this single, the only thing I didn't like was the vocals, which sound a bit robotic. To be honest, that's really out of place, but I do like everything else, such as how the guitar plays so well.

skymning by meltone

Meltone presents us with a single, which is quite confusing, to be honest, an instrumental track lasting over three minutes, which makes it sound somewhat repetitive. The mastering of the single seems normal to me, neither bad nor good, just normal.

you have no enemies by paø.wav and vibe

A single that creates a very relaxing atmosphere, with a well-defined harmony. The beginning is well crafted, but the ending leaves much to be desired.
